Brigit's Bakery offers a boozy late afternoon (5.30pm) tea aboard London's beloved Routemaster, double-decker buses, providing a perfect way for tourists tight on time to enjoy award-winning gin cocktails, afternoon tea and some of the city's top sites. There are 11 tables aboard and guests are given doggie boxes to take home whatever's left of the generous portions of scones and cakes.

Berry Brothers and Rudd is Britain's oldest wine and spirit merchant, established in 1698. A supplier to the royal family since the reign of King George III, BBR hosts tasting lunches and dinners and is little know outside local circles. It's a great chance to experience a secret part of royal history and meet interesting people passionate about wine or to learn about specific regions.

In Lincolnshire, Professor Pal From has designed Thorvald, a four-wheeled robot that carries trays of strawberry plants and kills mildew on crops. US agricultural companies are also pursuing robots in response to a worker shortage.
