Sam the Chicken Boy: 13 Year-Old Entrepreneur Makes His Mark
I created this entire piece myself. DESCRIPTION: It's not every day that an 11 year-old is so impacted by researching the detrimental environmental effects of agribusiness that he decides to save up money from lemonade stands to fund his own small farm. Sam Tobin is that boy, a chicken farmer who started his own free-range egg business in urban Charlotte, NC in an effort to live more sustainably.

Fighting Florence
Created whole video start to finish. DESCRIPTION: Shalonda Regan is a resilient community activist and resident in rural Lumberton, N.C. Her town was hit by hurricanes two years apart, and even six months after Hurricane Florence struck in October 2018, she and her community have still not recovered.

"Things That Simply Won't Let Go"
Judy Hogan is an 81-year-old environmental activist, writer, and teacher. Over the past few decades, she has fought a myriad of different environmental justice issues affecting her community in Chatham County, N.C. Right now, she is leading an effort against Duke Energy dumping and incinerating coal ash in her town. She publishes books and poetry and teaches writing classes twice a week as well.
