About Jinxin
I am Jinxin Liu from Columbia University, majoring in Film Media Studies. I have five years of experience in video production. I produced a documentary about fishermen in the China South Sea. Also, I filmed a documentary for a rock band for ten months this year in Shenzhen, China. I have also worked as a Director of Photography for several narrative shorts film; therefore, I am greatly confident in my cinematography skills and aesthetics.

On August 16, 2019, the South China Sea ended a three-month ban on fishing, and reopened the ocean to fishing. Liu Xianping and his father Liu Yuwan, from the mountains of Chongqing, immigrated to Shanwei, Guangdong more than 20 years ago, and started their careers as fishermen. August 16 is also the day when they return to work in the sea.

Filmed a rock band in Shenzhen for ten months. In Shenzhen’s highly competitive and involute society, this band, which consists of migrants, expresses their confusion about their careers and their desire to succeed. I filmed numerous rehearsals, album creation, releases, and national tours, as well as each musician’s personal life and work and hours of interviews. (The film is still in editing) The released video is a short commercial one, not the full documentary.
