In Portugal, technicians risk their lives every day to repair the wind turbines that provide energy across the country. Berlengas is a small Portuguese archipelago of biological heritage with high conservation interest, so protected by legislation, being integrated in Nature Reserves by the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF) and UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 2011 And it was there that the documentary filmmaker accompanied the fishing of the Safio and subsequent preparation at Fort São João Baptista. Mariana Castelo Branco at the invitation of the UFMG Knowledge Space recorded part of the daily life and life of waste pickers for the exhibition “Seu Lixandre, collection narratives", demystifying the image of the collector. In three audiovisual productions the viewer can know these figures (no longer) anonymous, of fundamental importance for the cleanliness of the city, which for many years have been confused with garbage and which today are proud of their occupation and demand respect. Amid mountains of material of all kinds, the collectors and triaters, in their statements, teach us that there is no garbage, it is a possibility of work and income. Far beyond environmental agents, they are examples of life and struggle that compel us to look at ourselves and the fate of these tons of waste produced daily around the world.
