Eben is an Emmy Award-winning filmmaker. He recently ended a 5-year run as one of the founding producers of CNN’s cinematic storytelling brand, Great Big Story. Eben specializes in premium, short-form documentary content with an emphasis on science, the outdoors, and adventure. He is a Part 107 Licensed Drone Pilot and a Certified Advanced Open Water Diver. At Great Big Story he developed and directed the wildlife conservation series Mission Wild, directed the award-winning short film The Impossible Ride, and produced hundreds of other micro-docs on topics ranging from animal farts to auctioneers.

What happens when a horror movie composer and a guitar maker join forces? They create the world’s most disturbing musical instrument. Affectionately known as "The Apprehension Engine," this one-of-a-kind instrument was commissioned by movie composer Mark Korven. Korven wanted to create spooky noises in a more acoustic and original way—but the right instrument didn't exist. So his friend, guitar maker Tony Duggan-Smith, went deep into his workshop and assembled what has to be the spookiest instrument on Earth.

Mission Wild: Sea turtles
Mission Wild is a series I developed around bear biologist Wesley Larson. We travelled the world to film the scientists fighting to save some of the most endangered species of wildlife. Highlights include transporting a pack of wild dogs across South Africa and meeting the man who pulled that infamous straw out of the nose of a sea turtle. This series won critical acclaim among the scientific community with its focus on the facts. Our unrelenting commitment to capture the science accurately built trust with our subjects who gave us unique access to their field research.

The Impossible Ride
The Impossible Ride documents Denise Mueller’s attempt to become the fastest cyclist on earth. We spent a week baking on the Bonneville Salt Flats to capture this. The film was recognized at domestic and international film festivals, including taking home Best Documentary Short at the International Motor Film Awards in London in 2019.

Designing the Apartment in ‘Friends’
There’s no apartment in New York City more famous than Monica’s impossible rent-controlled, two-bedroom West Village digs. From the purple walls to the outdoor terrace, the “Friends” apartment became the quintessential ideal of everything New York could be. That’s all thanks to John Shaffner, the man responsible for creating the set of “Friends.” As a production designer, Shaffner has worked on 44 different series and 68 pilots, including “Dharma and Greg,” “The Drew Carey Show,” “Two and a Half Men,” and “The Big Bang Theory.”

One Husband’s Tribute to a Timeless Love
Charles "LaLa" Evans and his wife Louise were together for 59 years and 11 months. Over the course of their marriage they took thousands of photographs together, capturing moments both big and small. When Louise passed away suddenly just one month shy of their 60th anniversary, Charles was determined to honor her memory using those pictures. So he created a museum in the backyard of their Mississippi home dedicated to their lifetime of love.
