Allison Shelley is an independent documentary photographer based in Washington D.C., focused primarily on health and social justice issues as they relate to women worldwide. She is co-founder and co-director of the non-profit Women Photojournalists of Washington (WPOW), and has worked as director of photography for Education Week newspaper and staff photographer for The Washington Times. Allison collaborates with organizations such as the United Nations Foundation, NPR and the Hewlett Foundation to create dynamic, image-forward corporate campaigns. Her recent projects from D.R. Congo, Senegal, Nigeria, Haiti, India, Nepal and the U.S. have been featured in publications like National Geographic, The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Atlantic, The Washington Post, NPR, Al Jazeera America, The Wall Street Journal and The Guardian, among others.
