About Kobus

I am a Freelance Cinematographer and Director based in Cape Town, South Africa. I studied Graphic design and Filmmaking at various institutions In Cape Town, London and Edinburgh. I joined Award Winning Egg films Creative Research department in 2003. Assisting some of South Africa’s top Commercial Directors in the pre production conceptualisation phase proved to be hugely beneficial in honing my own fledgling directing skills. Since leaving Egg films in 2010 I have concentrated on furthering my Cinematography and Editing skills. This lead me to do freelance work for several production company’s shooting in many genre’s locally and internationally. I have been fortunate to travel and shoot In 13 countries thus far and spent most of 2015 documenting stories for the United Nations throughout Africa. Broadcasters I have donework for include BBC Lifestyle, Discovery Channel, TLC, CNBC Africa, Sony Max, SABC, KykNet and Via. I believe in telling thought provoking, uplifting stories with a morale stance.
