About
Tariq Elmeri is a director, editor and self shooting DP with 8 year experience. Based in London, UK. He focuses on issues of identity, youth and culture in his films. He shoots with many types of cameras including C300, GH4 and GoPro. His most recent film, Forest Gate Girls shortlist for Grierson Award, explores the questions of identity and belonging for teenage Muslim girls in the UK. Born in the US, raised in the US, Africa and the Middle East, now living in the UK and fluent in three languages, he describes his identity as nomadic and allowing him to see stories from varying perspectives. He is currently completing a Masters in Directing Documentary at the National Film & Television School.

2016 Muslim Beachware
This video is done in a fun light hearted spirit to a capture a rather interesting protest. French authorities in a number of cities decided to ban the Muslim beachwear garment Burkini deciding on behalf of Muslim women in the name of freedom and equality. Activists from all walks of life decided to protest the ban in front of French Embassy in London.
