Lexia PowerUp Literacy is a new educational software platform that provides customized reading instruction to K12 students. I've worked with Lexia Learning on a number of occasions, most recently on this introductory video that provides an overview of the program to new adopters. The North-South Rail Link is a proposed transit project that would connect North Station and South Station in Boston, making the commuter rail system in Massachusetts much more efficient and useful for travelers. I produced, edited and animated this video for the Harvard Kennedy School, where researchers had put together a new cost estimate for the project. Wil Swink is an artist based in New Jersey whose paintings explore themes of race, poverty, family and civil rights. In 2014 I directed this short documentary in which Wil discusses the motivation and inspiration behind his work.

About Jacob
I'm a video director, editor, and motion graphics artist based in the Boston area. In the past I've worked for Brafton, a content marketing agency in Downtown Boston with clients all over the country. I currently work full time for the Harvard Kennedy School as a video producer and editor. (And I also do some freelancing, hence why I am here!) In my time at Brafton and Harvard, I've had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects. These have included shooting interviews, b-roll, studio work, event coverage and live action projects. At Brafton, I developed a strong editorial sense and a passion for helping businesses and organizations tell their stories in creative, interesting ways. My position at Harvard has been particularly challenging and rewarding because I've been able to produce videos on a wide range of topics, from environmental and financial policy to public health and housing. I enjoy the challenge of taking a relatively esoteric or difficult subject and making it accessible to a wider audience. It is my hope that I can continue helping organizations connect with their audiences through effective storytelling and compelling visuals.

Carbon pricing, or a carbon tax, is thought by many economists and environmental advocates to be the best way to combat climate change. This video takes a look at a carbon tax proposal put forward by Professor Joseph Aldy of the Harvard Kennedy School. Dr. Aldy suggests offsetting the carbon tax by redistributing the revenue to citizens, thereby making it revenue neutral.
