About
Arya Rothe (1990) is a documentary film director and producer from Pune, India and the co-founder of NoCut Film Collective. She graduated from DocNomads Master Course with a full scholarship. Before DocNomads, she studied at FAMU - National Film School of Czech Republic. Her first documentary film “Casa da Quina” (2015) had its World Premiere at DocLisboa and won the Special Mention Jury Award at FILMADRID in Spain. Her Hungarian graduation film, 'Daughter's Mother' (2018) had its World Premiere at Dok Leipzig Film Festival and is currently acquired for online distribution by GuideDoc. Her first feature length documentary as a co-director and a co-producer, A Rifle and A Bag is currently in post production with support from IDFA Bertha Fund, Netherlands, AlterCine Fund, Canada and Asian Cinema Fund, South Korea.

Casa da Quina
A sketch of a woman who is a regular in an old bar called Café Estádio in Lisbon. Quina has been visiting it for the past two decades because she believes that it is the only place that is a cure for her loneliness. World premiere: DocLisboa 2015, Green Year Section, Lisbon. Awards: FILMADRID 2016, Special Jury Mention In official competition at: Bogota Shorts 2016, Bogota, Colombia.
