My start in the audio-visual/media industry began with completion of Sound Engineering studies at the SAE in Amsterdam, while still working as an accountant for a large international corporation. After completion of my studies I began working as a freelance sound technician and eventually was able to take on lighting technician projects. Then my interest in moving images took me to The International Film School, San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba were studied Digital postproduction for film, after which I began to take on more camera operator and video editing work. My video editing work eventually led to me working as video editor on a permanent basis for an international media agency. From my initial position as editor I moved up to chief editor, responsible for mentoring and overseeing work of editing departments in Amsterdam, Kenya and Ghana, and eventually attaining the position of Executive Producer.
This VR documentary allows us to enter the life of Marilyn Martinez, a Spanish trans woman who moved to Amsterdam looking for a better life. In a world where many struggle to meet their dreams and fulfil societal expectations, this is an uplifting story about a person who manages, against the odds, to achieve it all: romantic love, caring family, close friends and professional success.
