I'm a Canadian reporter, speaker, and host focusing on foreign affairs and a United Nations Correspondent. I have worked both in broadcast journalism (CBC/Radio-Canada) and print (La Stampa). I graduated from Columbia University (M.A. Politics & Global Affairs) and in 2015 from McGill University in Montreal (Comparative Politics, History, and Italian Studies). In 2015, I won the European Union Delegation in Canada Young Journalist Award and in 2021, the Prince Albert II of Monaco award for UN reporting. The United States has quietly cut a deal with Russia that eases the political pressure on Syria at the United Nations. If the 15-nation Security Council endorses it, the U.N. security body would hold fewer meetings on Syria’s chemical weapons and consolidate separate sessions on humanitarian relief and a political transition that have gained little traction over the past several years.
Part of a FES reporting grant - In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, the World Health Organization (WHO) became a battlefield of global geopolitical infighting, especially between the United States and China. At the United Nations’ headquarters in Geneva, the Trump administration withdrew its funding to the WHO, accusing it of being too “China-centric” and, by doing so, undermining the organization’s legitimacy. Meanwhile, Beijing used the WHO to gain influence globally by, among other things, promoting its “Health Silk Road.”
