As a producer for Australia's leading commercial TV networks, Duane Strauss (founder of supergood), has written, directed and produced more that 1,000 stories for broadcast. With a passion for making exciting and compelling content, Duane understands the fundamentals of creating a compelling story that engages the hearts and minds of the viewers, urging them to take action. In his current role, working for Channel 7's flagship programs - Queensland Weekender, The Great Day Out and Creek to Coast, he describes his role as a "dream gig". "I started supergood to help non-profits, and businesses engaged in corporate social responsibility to help them tell their stories. While it's amazing to travel to exotic destinations, dine at fancy restaurants and get paid to do it, I get an overwhelming wholesome feeling using my skills to help disadvantaged communities."
They raised over $200K for rural and developing communities in Sri Lanka, a country of many contrasting extremes. Driven by the adversities of those in poverty, 15 business owners embarked on a rally around the sub-continent, in the most Lankan way possible - by Tuk Tuk.
We traveled to Thailand with Hands Across the Water and a well known pharmaceutical company to cover their journey of connection and hope. 15 ordinary Aussies guided by Peter Baines OAM (founder of Hands), where they engaged in community projects; helping ordinary Thai people living in poverty - giving back to a community that faces many adversities.
In the face of the continuing savage drought, Australia Day 2019 saw the 13th Burrumbuttock Hay Run, a 1,340-kilometre trek. At the time of filming, local grazier Alex Edwards said his property had seen 83mm of rain in 15 years. Think about that - 83mm is less than half a glass of water in the time it takes for a newborn to become an adolescent.
