Clara Wetzel is a filmmaker and media artist. She graduated from the national film school of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her directed works include short narrative films, documentaries, educational and ethnographic films. Her work with NGO´s and educational institutions have the goal to place people and their narrative at the forefront, not only inspire people to act but it can also give them a way to put this to use afterwards. Clara has worked on WTYSL’s largest project to date in Somalia, as well as projects spanning Mexico, Peru, Kenya, US, Denmark, Panama, Sri Lanka and Lebanon.
There are more than 118 million people in Mexico, but 70 million of them don’t have access to technology or the internet. Jorge Camil and his company Enova are trying to close the digital gap in Mexico. At Enova, Jorge and his team are designing educational models and programs such as the video game “Pedro,” to introduce low-income communities to technology and digital literacy.
Optimism is the expectation that the future holds positive possibilities and the confidence that, with effort, these possibilities can become a reality. It’s believing that with a bit of effort, you can improve your future. When bad things happen its the attitude that you can do better next time around. Its the ability to remain motivated and positive even when things didn't go as planned.
Peru’s gastronomy is critically acclaimed as one of the best in the world and is especially known for its seafood dishes such as ceviche. Even though Peru has a very diverse marine life and ecosystem, it’s not being protected. Marine conservation affects the environment, the fishermen whose livelihoods depend on the ocean, and society at large.
This TV series for Somaliland was produced in cooperation with a local Somali Crew. The main objective was to train the crew on filmmaking. For the first season, 6 episodes were shot and edited.
