About Nanfu
Nanfu Wang is an independent documentary filmmaker originally from China and currently based in New York City. She has a MA in documentary from NYU, a MA in Media Studies from Ohio University, a MA in English literature from Shanghai University, China, and a BA in English literature from Jiangxi Normal University, China. Her previous work includes two feature length documentary: DYLAN'S STREETS (2013) (83 min), an account of one month on the streets living with a young homeless man in Florida; THE ROAD FROM HAINAN (2014), a film follows human rights activist Ye Haiyan (aka Sparrow) from town to town as she is detained, evicted, and chased by local governments and secret police after trying to seek justice for six elementary school girls who were sexually abused by their principal. Her short documentary pieces have been translated into many languages and published on AOL, Yahoo Brasil, Yahoo Mexico, Yahoo Argentina, Storyhunter TV.
