About Jika

I am a multimedia journalist, photographer and video producer from Mexico City. I graduated from Columbia Journalism School in 2013 and I am currently working as the Senior Digital Media Associate and as an Adjunct for Photography and Video classes at the school. My goal is to report on human rights violations at home and around the world. So far my work has taken me to Cuba, Cambodia, and most recently to Guatemala. I seek out stories that reveal the human condition. I am particularly interested in covering immigration, women's rights and poverty. The ultimate goal is to produce stories that are both powerful and meaningful, stories that produce emotion in the viewer.

Snow brings beauty, not chaos, to New York City. Though it created havoc for much of New England, the storm did not live up to its hype in the Big Apple. But it still created some beautiful images of quiet streets and happy children in a winter wonderland.
