KC Nwakalor is a Documentary Photographer, Producer & Educator based between Manchester, UK and Abuja, Nigeria. He has worked extensively across West Africa, and through his work, he humanizes real socioeconomic, health, and environmental issues within Africa and the African diaspora. He has been commissioned by notable International publications and Organizations like The New York Times, Bloomberg, The Financial Times, CNN, Le Monde, USAID, UNICEF, World Food Programme (WFP), Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), Adobe, Seplat Energy, OSIWA, OXFAM, Global Citizen, NPR, Rest of World, Open Government Partnership, Sightsavers, Mines Advisory Group (MAG), International Rescue Committee (IRC), Amnesty International, Jeune Afrique, Options UK, Ipas, Empower Africa, New Incentives, Already Alive, DDC, Jpeigo, Hedayah, Cherie Blair Foundation, Flexisaf Foundation and Connected Development. KC has been published in The New York Times, Business Week Magazine, BBC, Aljazeera, NPR, Washington Post, CGTN, The Africa Report, MSN, Wordt Vervolgd Magazine, and Bright Magazine, amongst others. He has a bachelor's degree in Biology from The University of Abuja, after which he completed a postgraduate course on Photojournalism at The New York Institute of Photography and has attended several photography workshops/ Portfolio Reviews like VII Academy Foundry Photojournalism Workshop in Kigali, Magnum Portfolio Review & Editorial Photography Workshop, Blink & New York Times Portfolio Review in New York, Prism Photo Workshop and Canon Storytelling Workshop in Lagos. He is an Adobe Creative Residence Community Fund Recipient 2020, a nominee for World Press Photo 6X6 Global talent 2020, and has exhibited his work internationally. KC is the co-founder of No! Wahala Magazine (A print photography magazine that champions African creatives), a member of Diversify Photo (a global collective of BIPOC visual Journalists), Frontline Freelance Register and African Photojournalism Database (APJD) (a joint project by World Press Photo and Everyday Africa). He has held talks at the Royal Photographic Society, World Press Photo, and Magnum Learn events. He also teaches photography on Skillshare and at various photography workshops. When KC is not on assignment, he works on his personal projects.
