Following Donald Trump's call to ban Somalians entering the United States, this story tried to share the views of the large community of Somali men and women living in Garden City, a small rural town in Southwest Kansas.
The story sought to clarify then president-elect Trump's immigration plan and addressing fears in the Hispanic-majority population of Garden City. The story won first place for news writing in the Kansas Press Association 2017 awards.
