Rick Minnich is an American independent filmmaker based in Berlin, Germany. He holds a B.A. in English from Columbia University and an MFA equivalent in film directing from the Film University Babelsberg "Konrad Wolf” in Germany. Rick Minnich has been writing, directing and producing shorts and feature documentaries since 1993 through his companies Rickfilms and Our Man in Berlin, and in association with various German broadcasters, film funds, and production companies. Short film made for the 25th anniversary of the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam IDFA.
I shot, directed and edited (in-camera) this 16mm experimental short portraying one day at the 1993 Berlin International Film Festival.
I co-wrote and directed this feature documentary about a 45-year-old man who suffers total amnesia. Co-produced with ZDF and Hoferichter & Jacobs GmbH. Short-listed for the German Oscar "Lola", winner of the Special Jury Award at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam IDFA, and numerous other prizes.
