Nearly half a million refugees living in Kenya’s camps face overcrowding and poor sanitation. These camps have yet to record a single coronavirus case, but United Nations refugee agency is already making preparations to counter the threat of COVID-19. It warns the consequences of an outbreak among the refugees could be disastrous. Al Jazeera’s Malcolm Webb reports from Nairobi, Kenya.
In the Kakuma refugee camp and Kalobeyei Settlement in northern Kenya, DW Akademie and FilmAid Kenya are training refugees to report stories and news from their communities. Usually, their audio reports are distributed through listener-clubs. Due to Covid-19 restrictions the "Sikika" team are now sharing them via Whatsapp. This is how we've managed to keep their trainings going during the pandemic.
