Sergey Karpov is a documentary photographer, director and creative multimedia producer. In his projects Sergey is combining social, memory and future studies with modern digital storytelling. His points of interests are people’s imagination, post-Soviet identity and creation of horizontal institutions. At different times, Sergey won international and national awards: World Press Photo (Digital Storytelling Contest in the Innovative Storytelling category), POY Online storytelling of the year finalist, Visa d'Or (Best Digital News Story), WEB FEST Berlin (Best Drama), "Media Manager of Russia – 2018", G8, Moscow Urban Forum Community Awards. Sergey's debut full-length documentary "A Man's Life. The Last Interview" was awarded the "Laurel Branch" award as the best Russian TV film of 2020. On 5th January 2020 Andrey Pavlenko was gone. «The Life of the Man» is his last public speech. It tells the story of a perfect doctor and a perfect patient Andrey Pavlenko. In March 2018, one of the Andrey Pavlenko, one of the best surgery oncologists in Russia, learns that he has an aggressive stomach cancer. Being an oncologist, Andrey understands that his chances are low, but he chooses to undergo the treatment and make his story a public media project. The project tells people how to accept the diagnosis, how to fight cancer, what to do and where to seek help. In November 2019, Andrey gave his last interview to the project «The Life of the Man» team. This movie is in some way his testament for everyone who followed his fight.
