About Ana María
Ana María is a United States citizen born in Barranquilla, Colombia. Her first job was as a newscast correspondent at Televista and host for the video musical production “La Guía.” Nominated in 2002, upon graduation from Television and Radio Production with a minor in Communications for best final project at Miami Dade College. Worked for Paramount Pictures production film team:"Jackass:The Movie," interned with Emilio Estefan at Crescent Moon Records. Continued her career with MTV Latino © in Miami, started interning for the show “Conexión,” was part of the first Video Music Awards (VMA) Latin America in 2002. Manage the MTV Latino channel in New York, worked at red carpets, press conferences, MTV2 $2 Bill Concert "System of a Down," MTV U Woodie Awards, Hotel MTV in 2005 and VMA´s, along with Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Nelly Furtado, among others. Ana María studied hosting and acting with Patricia Stark, Marki Costello, Barbara Barna and Tony Pichette at Actors Studios. In 2009 mayored in journalism with a minor in investigation at New York University (NYU), with Stephen Sheppard and Simon Surowicz both producers of "60 minutes." Jim Edwards, deputy editor at Business Insider, Tim Mohr from Playboy Magazine and John Crudele from the New York Post and graduated in 2011. She was on television commercials and educational videos in NYC, her articles and photos have been published on: El Heraldo Sunday magazine, El Especial, Cravings Magazine, The New York Post, El Diario La Prensa, Mi Gente TV magazine, Fotógrafas Latinoamericanas, Documenting Men, Cartel Urbano and Documentary Photo. Worked as a (Spanish-English) interpreter, translator and proof-reader for Russian and Slavic Languages and at Nike+ worldwide launching website and app. Ariza has her own blog called "run away with me," where she writes about her travels, people and places she meets along her way. Moved to Bogotá, Colombia in autumn of 2013, where she was the production coordinator of Colombia´s visual artist Juan Manuel Echavarría´s documentary, “RÉQUIEM NN” and worked as a producer for an Israeli docu/reality, "Couch Diaries" for Artza Productions from Tel Aviv. Worked over two years for Colombia´s National Government at Social Prosperity towards overcoming poverty in rural zones with community’s victims of armed conflict and vulnerable population, as Communications Chief Advisor and project coordinator of four two-minutes capsules and a one-hour long documentary with Discovery Channel. Filmed outside Tumaco, in Vichada, Cocorná, Valle de Sibundoy, Sierra Nevada, Montes de María and Guapi, this project was broadcast on Discovery Latin America and the United States. In the winter of 2017, Ana María attended, Conflict Photography Workshop, led by journalist and photographer Gervasio Sánchez, earned her professional and documentary photography certification at Zona Cinco in Bogotá. She worked on projects for RTVC, public television channel and Netflix, as a Spanish-English simultaneous interpreter. Ana María has interviewed Nicolas Cage, Tracy Morgan, Bill Nighty, Zach Galifianakis, Benjamin Bratt, John Leguizamo, Mike Newell, Scott Steindorff, Giovanna Mezzogiorno, Catalina Sandino, Eddy Herrera, Leonardo Amuedo, Chris Botti, Samuel Torres and Jason Cordero among many others.
