    In the midst of the onslaught foreign martial arts that flooded Indonesia, a number of traditional pencak silat activists tried to preserve their ancestral cultural heritage. This documentary tells the portrait of Babeh Amin, founder of the Betawi pencak silat school, Sanggar Kelima Pancar located in the area along the Ciliwung River, Tanjung Barat, Jakarta. Limited land makes him use the banks of the Ciliwung River as a training location to maintain the continuity of pencak silat and protect the environment along the river.

    Yatno Gondrong, an environmental janitor or often called The Orange Troop, has succeeded converting abandoned land full of garbage into a vineyard which he named Kebun Imut Si Nakal. This video tells of Yatno's struggle to convert waste-filled land into a vineyard which is now an example of reforesting the city of Jakarta.

We made this documentary for the Padang earthquake commemoration series in West Sumatra and was screened at an award ceremony at the West Sumatra Governor's Office, August 2019.

  • Tomato War Tradition in West Java

    Tons of tomatoes were thrown into the air, each of which shot quickly towards participants and residents during the Tomato War tradition in Cikareumbi Village, Cikidang, Lembang, West Bandung, West Java, Sunday (28/10/2018). The accompaniment of traditional music accompanied the excited shrieks of the residents who enthusiastically participated in the celebration which was the culmination of the series of Ngaruat Bumi ceremonies and the purpose of hunting in the tomato-producing village. Ngaruat Bumi or numbal is held by farmers and residents of Cikareumbi once a year as a form of gratitude for soil fertility. A series of activities in the Ngaruat Bumi Ijab Kabul ceremony and the last stage, Hajat Buruan, the event ended with the Tomato War. A total two tons of rotten tomatoes and crop failures were used at the Tomato War ceremony which has entered its 7th year of implementation. Year after year, the event is increasingly awaited by residents and visitors who come specifically to witness the Tomato War.
