MAJI
Colby College student Benard Kibet ’18 decided to bring running water to his hometown in rural Kenya. He applied for a Davis Projects for Peace grant through Colby's Office of Grants and Sponsored Programs and was awarded $10,000. With community members pitching in with labor, Kibet, an economics major, used the money to have a hydraulic pump installed in a river near the town of Tinet. The community members are now able to spend time going to school and working on other activities rather than hauling water by hand.
