Suryo Wibowo is a multimedia creator (photography and videography), currently based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Suryo was educated at the Atma Jaya University of Yogyakarta majoring in Communication Sciences and began to work as photographer in 2008. In 2009, he pursued his passion in photo-journalism and enrolled at the renowned Antara Gallery of Photojournalism (the GFJA) in Jakarta, Indonesia. After graduating from the GFJA, Suryo was selected for inclusion in a group of 30 young aspirational Asian photographers for the 6th Angkor Photo Workshop in Cambodia. Suryo has also been nominated for People in the News and PhotoEssay Category in the Indonesian Photojournalist Award in 2011 and 2012 His clients included prestige accounts such as TOTAL E&P Indonesie, JAPFA Comfeed, TEMPO magazine, the DestinAsian Magazine, National Geographic Traveller Indonesia, TIME.com, AFP, Reuters, Gatra Living magazine, the Daily Mail, the Sydney Morning Herald, Amnesty International, and the DC magazine for the EU. As testimony to his skills and credentials Suryo is a holder of Diploma Multimedia Journalism consequent upon being accorded a fellowship by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung at the Ateneo de Manila University, Manila, in the Philippines.

Rape is often not taken seriously in Indonesia. Often, the victims are blamed and the perpetrators are not processed by law. Indonesian police oft choose to mediate both parties instead of investigate the case. This work is for Opini ID, interviewing a rape victim, who finally speaks up about his painful experience, in order to empower other victims to stand up and speak up.
After years of struggle with bureaucracy, the indigenous people of Kasepuhan Cibarani still has not received their indeigenous forest certificate from the Indonesian Government. The Indonesian Institute for Forest and Environment (RMI) initiated the collaboration between indigenous groups to manage and conserve forest. This video is part of RMI's campaign for better management of indigenous forest and to demand the indigenous people's right for a certificate which will protect the people and the nature from overexploitation.
