In May 2021, a volcano erupted in the Virunga mountains of Democratic Republic of Congo. At least 450,000 people were displaced in Nyiragongo, Goma, with many people unable to return to their normal lives. Over a year later, life has attempted to return to normal but normal is impossible to achieve as former homeowners now live as displaced people, watching what is left of their home, as the actively billowing volcano, threatens to return. What will the government do?
