Born in Zambia, and grew up in Italy. Franco directs, produces, and edits independent documentaries on a range of topical subjects. His feature length documentary “Waiting for Armageddon” was released theatrically and on DVD in 2010 by First Run Features and is now available on Netflix. His 2007 documentary “This is Nollywood,” won the Audience Award at the Abuja International Film Festival (Nigeria) and was broadcast internationally. “American Eunuchs,” his first feature length documentary as director/producer/editor aired on the Sundance Channel in the US and was an official selection in dozens of film festivals including the prestigious International Documentary Film festival in Amsterdam (IDFA). Between 2002 and 2005 Franco collaborated with numerous news magazines of RAI International (Italian Public Television) as a reporter/producer/shooter. Franco also directs and produces films for NGOs and universities with a focus on Africa.

Franco was wonderful to work with -- he was very positive, accommodating, and communicative. We worked closely to produce two interviews on a sensitive topic, and he was great about touching base (before, during, and after the shoot), being the point person on location, and making the interview subjects feel comfortable. Even with some last-minute scheduling changes, he was flexible and maximized the time to get even more b-roll. It was a pleasure to work with him!

Franco is an incredible video journalist with a great eye. He was extremely communicative going over details in pre-production, so that he had a complete understanding of what we were looking for on the shoot. He captured Daily Table, its founder Doug Rauch, along with its employees and customers wonderfully, and was able to ask the right questions to get meaningful answers out of subjects. I would recommend working with him on future projects.
