Growing up in the Beirut, Lebanon the first 12 years of my life gave me a passion for the Middle East. After returning to the United States, I desperately wanted others to see beyond the mainstream media in order to get a glimpse of the humanity in the Middle East. As the conflicts in the Middle East seem like never-ending cycles of violence, many people resort to apathy, fear, or harmful resistance. But I believe we can all respond differently, and play a part in the peacemaking process. The region seems hopeless, but a closer look reveals otherwise. Storytelling through film seemed like the perfect way to show others a different story. I believe in the power of story, the power of relationships, and the power of hope. And so began my journey as a director…
The video was made to highlight a non-profit organization that works with at-risk youth. The video shares their story and vision, with the hope to help raise funds for their organization.
We highlighted this homeless ministry in order for them to get their story out and to fundraise.
This video focuses on the Syrian refugee crisis and how storytelling can be used to give people hope. I was commissioned to work on this as a series to get people to pray for the Middle East.
Project Paddington was set up to mobilise school children to send a teddy, a drawing of themselves and a short note to a refugee child. So, they sent 200 teddy bears to Lebanon to be distributed to the Syrian refugee students at Jusoor School in Beirut. In return, they wrote letters back to the children in the UK. A beautiful, heartwarming exchange.
GSF is an international not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive cleft care and raising awareness on such congenital deformities. Many of GSF-MENA’s patients cannot afford to have their congenital deformities corrected and if left unrepaired, these deformities can lead to a variety of problems that fundamentally affect the wellbeing of both the individual and the community
