I'm an independent filmmaker with a decade of experience in all areas of production - writing, directing, producing, editing and camera. I've dedicated a lot of my work to important and timely social issues, including conservation, indigenous rights, art as therapy, illiteracy and prison reform. I'm most experienced in the documentary form, but I've created narrative films too. Beyond my personal work, through my production company Kings Road Media, I've produced and created dozens of commercial and corporate projects. These clients have ranged from local artisans to multinational corporations.

Daniel and Zane were wonderful to work with from beginning to end. Very communicative and professional. The footage looks really good and they were wonderful to have on set. We hope to work with them again in the future if we have a project that takes us back to their neck of the woods.

Our Last Refuge is a 25-minute short advocacy documentary that tells the story of the Badger-Two Medicine and the decades-long struggle to protect this sacred homeland of the Blackfeet Nation from oil and gas development. The project was commissioned by a group of non-profits who successfully used it in a campaign to cancel all of the disputed oil and gas leases featured in the film.
This is an artist profile I put together for a spray paint / stencil artist based in Freiburg, Germany. Shot on the fly without any plan, this is an example of my more run-and-gun, rougher style of shooting.
This is a trailer for my first feature documentary, released in 2016. It has been called "an inspiring portrait" (Booklist), "gutsy and graphic" (Library Journal), and "compelling" (Santa Fe New Mexican). It tells the remarkable true story of poet Jimmy Santiago Baca and his radical transformation from violent, illiterate convict into world-renowned and celebrated poet.
This trailer, a simple teaser of selects, includes footage from two personal projects that I shot simultaneously on the 2016 fall Blackfeet Buffalo drive. One film, Drive Them Buffalo, is a short doc that captures the drive. The second, Buffalo Stone, is a short fiction film about a girl who goes on the drive as a way to heal from trauma. Both will be completed in 2017.
