I shoot and direct documentaries and cover grassroots media from the pulse of the streets. Most of my work focuses on social and environmental justice themes and characters that are under-represented in mainstream media. My recent feature documentary projects include: producer/camera for HASKELL WEXLER'S, Four Days in Chicago; director/producer on the feature doc CRYING EARTH RISE UP, that intimately examines the human cost of uranium mining and its impact on our sacred water supply; and the nationally-PBS broadcast STANDING SILENT NATION chronicling a Native American family struggle for economic empowerment by growing industrial hemp on their sovereign lands on the Pine Ridge Reservation. My features form part of large engagement strategies to promote critical thinking and inform positive shifts in ideas and policy. I learned to shoot in TV news. I have a 4K Canon C300, my own audio and lighting gear, and decades of experience filming observational documentary, interviews, and nonfiction coverage.
"I Exist" reflects on our indigenous and human experiences. In the face of all that confronts us, we exist. It was created through collective discussion at the workshop "ARTivism: Art and Media The Art of Resistance with the Peoples Media Project" hosted by The O'otham PiiPaash Collective at the PiiPaash Colony (District 7) on the Gila River Indian Community.

The Apache Stronghold is occupying sacred land to oppose the land deal written into the National Defense Re-authorization Act (passed in Dec 2014), which transfers sacred Apache land to Resolution Mines owned by the foreign corporation, Rio Tinto, whose copper mining plans will destroy the land.
Oak Flat inside Arizona's Tonto National Forest has been under federal protection against mining since 1955. But that hasn't stopped copper mining companies from trying. On October 18th, journalist James Foley would have turned 41. To celebrate his birthday his friends have created a mural in his native Chicago. It's an attempt to combat the image of war and death that has become associated with their dear friend.

In Dec 2014, Arizona legislators wrote a Southeast Arizona Land Exchange into the National Defense Authorization Act- which transferred Apache holy land to a foreign copper mine. In February, hundreds of Apache gathered with other tribal nations and allies and walked 44 miles from San Carlos, AZ to Oak Flat campground and began a spiritual occupation of the land. They plan to stay until it ends.

The Apache Stronghold is marking their one year anniversary of the occupation at Oak Flat, which has preventing the copper mining on land given away in the 2015 National Defense Reauthorization Act. Allies and indigenous supporters from all over the world will be joining the Apache as they march from San Carlos to the sacred Oak Flat area. This is a follow up to a piece we did last year.
