About
Laura Otálora (Bogotá, Colombia, 1989) is a visual anthropologist and documentary filmmaker. Early in her career she made documentaries for international organizations in Africa, Europe, Asia and the Americas. In 2018, her first feature film, "Chef's Diaries: Scotland", won Best Documentary in Girona and was selected in several festivals such as Malaga, Seattle and Edinburgh, available on Amazon Prime Video and Filmin. In 2021, she wrote and directed two episodes of "Distil Your World" on Amazon Prime Video and the documentary series "Vivas" (MinTIC). In 2024, her documentary "De Colombia pa'l Mundo" premiered on HBOmax. She is currently directing her second feature film "Capitán" and the series "Impermanence", is content director at the "Apichatpong Weerasethakul Lab" and professor at the National Film School (ENACC).
