About

Monique Walton was born and raised in Long Island, New York. A 2004 graduate of Yale University, her debut documentary short, Still Black, At Yale, screened at over twenty international film festivals and educational conferences. Walton worked at Viacom for four years producing educational on-air and web videos for Nickelodeon before moving on to film school at the University of Texas. The Becoming Box, a sci-fi short, premiered at the Texas Black Film Festival and won the narrative award at the 2012 International Black Film festival of Nashville. Walton leads youth media skills training with the Black Media Council in Austin, TX and lends her talent to various non-for-profit and community based organizations. Her work focuses on themes of identity and belonging within the African American community. Her innovative fitness and wellness films for The Fit Cycle have been recognized globally in print, online and on TV with Forbes calling her work the Smartest, Sexiest Workout Videos Ever.
