David (he/him) is a Colombian-born digital storyteller focused on connecting people to the importance of rivers and water resources. He developed a passion for the natural world which would lead him to get a Master’s in Aquatic Ecology from the University of Georgia. After completing ecology-based work throughout the US and abroad he shifted his career to documentary filmmaking where he felt he could make a bigger impact and help others tell their stories. Currently as a Communications Manager at Water For People, he uses visual storytelling to showcase the work of global communities and educate general audiences on the issues and solutions to the world water crisis.

In May 2010, Rulindo, Rwanda launched an ambitious plan to bring access to water and sanitation services to the entire district population. Alongside Water For People, the Ministry of Infrastructure, local leaders, partners, and donors, the Rulindo Challenge was born. Today, we celebrate the success for over 330,000 people in Rulindo and look back on the journey.

Southern Exposure is a film fellowship program that is actively raising awareness about Alabama’s incredible natural resources and important environmental issues that impact all of us. As a Southern Exposure 2018 Film Fellow I created a short film that explores the issues with the proposed Cahaba Beach Road, a Highway 280 cut through that would bring traffic across Birmingham Water Works lands that protect our drinking water source.
Bosque de Nuwas (The forest of the women), is a virgin forest in the Alto Mayo area of Peru that is protected and conserved by the women of the Shampuyacu indigenous community. The women plant and use the medicinal plants in the area for their livelihood and to maintain their ancient cultural practices.
