About

A documentary filmmaker and producer Mina Keshavarz was born in Shiraz in 1984. Since 2002 she has been working as a documentary filmmaker, journalist, and researcher for documentary film projects. She is Co-founder of visual documentary magazine” From Tehran” and she is also Co-founder of a website on documentary film issues “ Vamostanad “ from 2009-2014 in Iran. She has made several awarded documentary films on social issues which have premiered in IDFA, Thessaloniki, Sheffield, Tribeca, London Film Festival including “Profession: Documentaries”, “Braving the Waves” and “Unwelcome in Tehran”. She established her documentary film production “MinDoc Film Production “in Iran in 2013 with the aim to produce creative documentaries with a focus on social, political issues. Mina's aim is to work with first & second filmmakers to help them in developing their ideas.  Since then Mina produced 2 interactive documentaries in co-production with the Netherlands and granted by Netherlands Film Institute. In 2016 She produced “Braving the Waves” a feature length documentary film directed by herself in co-production with Norway and Lebanon and granted by IDFA Bertha Fund,Sorfond, Fritt Ord.  this film had its world premiere in One World Human Rights film Festival and won best documentary film award in London Film festival. Later in 2017 Mina began directing and producing “The Art of Living in Danger” in co-production with Arte/ ZDF and “Tag/Traum “Film Production in Germany. This film got support from NRW Cinema Fund and HotDocs International CrossCurrent Theatrical Fund, and developed in EsoDoc, Nipkow Film Residency and Cinephilia residency. It also received best pitch award in MipDoc 2017 in Cannes and received 2 best pitch awards in Asian forum for documentaries in Kolkata 2018. This film will have its world premiere in the Sheffield Documentary Film Festival  in October 2020. Mina recently produced “Fish Eye” a feature length documentary film directed by Amin Behroozzadeh which is celebrating its world premiere in Visions du Reel 2020. This film won best film in progress award in Sarajevo Film Festival 2019. Mina is alumni of Berlinale Talents, HotDocs Emerging Docs Accelerator Lab, Nipkow Film Residency and she has pitched her project in Tribeca, Thessaloniki, IDFA Pitching Forum and HotDocs deal maker. She has experience as a jury member in National and International film festivals and participated in several development workshops like GreenHouse, ESODoc, Docedge Kolkata. Mina Has received a full scholarship from School of Visual arts in NewYork to study master in social documentary films which has been postponed because of Covid-19. Mina is working on 2 new projects now. A feature length documentary film “ The Chronicle of a winter: Tehran, 1979 “ directed by Sahar Salahshoori and Bahar Shoghi which won CNC award in April 2020 for best project in Meeting on the Bridge, Neighbor program and we pitched it also in Sunny Side of the doc 2020. This film is in the development stage and will be a co-production with France. Another project that Mina is currently working on is a feature length fiction film "Numb" directed by Shirin Barghnavard. It will be Mina’s first experience in producing a fiction film.
