Non-Fiction Filmmaker, Based in Japan. After working in Toei CM cooperation as a production assistant, Tatsuya became an independent filmmaker in 2012. He pursues visual expressions that show real aspects of people and place mainly in non-fictional genre.
Toyohashi, Aichi Men in this town have made and ignited cylinders packed with fireworks for a few hundred years. Every year, even today, 18-year-olds to much older get together and work with fireworks for the Gion festival. In one year, we closely followed the town men from their preparation process to the very day of the festival and saw how their bond deepened through fireworks.
Nikko, Tochigi Tokujiro IV and his buddies cultivate natural ice. They fill ponds with the natural water from the Nikko mountain range and let it develop into ice only by taking advantage of the coldness of the winter. Why does he still use traditional technics to make natural ice? This short documentary tells a story about Tokujiro, who calls himself an ice farmer, and his belief.
A documentary on three people who live in a longevity village, Takayama, Nagano. This 30 minutes short was broadcasted on Channel4K and the nationwide cable TV network, and later in Taiwan and Italy. Through the eyes of people living in harmony with beautiful nature, it uncovers what’s behind their long life.
