Ali Amiri is a visual artist and filmmaker based in Tehran, Iran, born in Tehran in 1992. While studying architecture at university, Ali explored graphic design and photography. However, he felt a calling towards filmmaking, wanting to merge visual elements and tell captivating stories. His artistic vision expanded beyond photography and graphic design, and he began making experimental films alongside his work in advertising industry as a commercial film director and scriptwriter. In 2018, Ali directed his first commercial film, marking the start of his career as a commercial film director. Balancing his passion for independent art and the advertising industry, he found both realms immensely attractive and continued to explore new spaces for his creativity. He believes in using all tools and media to convey his artistic voice to the audience, without setting boundaries for his creative expression.
Bomooni is a folk song originating from southern Iran. To me, this ceaseless plea for someone to stay felt like being trapped within a house. It's a house encircled by the dreams of men like you—men who refuse to let you depart, men who confine you and incinerate the tokens of your love. Perhaps one day, you may break free from them, but as soon as you leave, another door will materialize in front of you again.
In this commercial, the brand emphasizes values such as life, nature, and a deep connection with a green environment. The script I developed features a family and a young boy discovering the world through immersion in nature—touching and feeling it with all his senses. The car serves as more than just transportation; it's a guardian of nature due to its hybrid mechanism, safely delivering the family to the embrace of the natural world.
The "Crosslife" concept for the X33 MVM Car aims to position the vehicle as an economical choice that seamlessly integrates into various facets of daily life. Drawing inspiration from this concept and the provided script, I crafted a commercial film that narrates a series of unforgettable moments infused with hope, love, and passion. This film endeavors to showcase the car as a central character in the narrative of people's lives, accompanying them through a diversity of experiences.
In the making of an experimental film featuring the rearranged old song 'Ashegham Man' (meaning 'I'm in love' in Persian) by the Vintage Lies band, my vision involves capturing touching and familiar imagery from Iran. I intend to emphasize the bittersweet aspects of love by focusing on scenes and individuals who have not yet experienced romantic love. This approach aims to convey a sense of melancholy and emotional depth, echoing the themes of the song through evocative visual storytelling.
