Mengjue "Ashley" Jiang is a Chinese documentary filmmaker. Her work focuses on the intersection of gender, sexuality and race. She’s the founder of OutChina (www.ChinaLGBT.org), a media advocacy project that spotlights and humanizes LGBTQ Chinese nationals. Her videos have gained millions of views on social media. Her recent short documentary, “A Chicken Nugget Love Story,” won the Best Documentary Award at 2019 Queer Comrades Competition, with over 7-million views globally. After graduating from USC’s School for Communication and Journalism, Ashley brought her international perspective to The Advocate, America's longest-running LGBTQ publication, as a video producer. She’s currently based in Shanghai, China.
