Matias Maxx is a journalist, photographer and videomaker based in Rio de Janeiro with twenty years of experience both with big, small or solo crews. He produced, shot and directed stories, documentaries and series for international media such as VICE, NatGeo, HBO and Al-Jazeera among others. In 2016, he published in VICE Brasil the article “Did the pacification of the German complex work?”, awarded first place in the V Latin American Journalism Award on Drugs. Cannabis researcher and activist. He also directed and produced video-clips, ads and mini-documentaries for Sony, Island Records, Nike and Red Bull.

This is a short documentary about the first LGBT parade in "Baile da Gaiola" the notorious Baile Funk party at Vila da Penha, Rio de Janeiro. An immersive dive into one of the most underground, grassroots and legitimate cultures in Rio de Janeiro: the Baile Funk. I've pitched, produced and did one of the two cameras in this one.
