Hello! My name is Sidrah. I work from Delhi, India as a Video Journalist and Documentary Filmmaker. I look after stories end to end- from ideation/proposals, fixing, building teams, budgeting, filming to editing. Depending on the project, I am happy to fill in for one or all of these roles. I have been a journalist for the last 10 years and have covered the expanse of the country for stories on- culture, gender, development, rights. I am curious about the world and my country and can often be found travelling in fringe parts for stories. I have worked on stories for CNN’s Great Big Story, New York Times, Aj+, Google, Discovery Digital, Business Reporter, Vox.com, Pear Video, Underknown, TRT World, Facebook, Tufts University, Christian Aid amongst others. Last three years after Modi became PM, India has seen a sharp rise in Cow Vigilantism. The country is now dotted with large and small bands of self proclaimed cow protector groups. The vigilantism took a deadly turn in 2015, when a muslim man was lynched over allegations of cow slaughter. Since then there have been many such incidents especially in Jharkhand.
