I have a background in international relations and computer engineering, so working as a broadcast journalist has been an interesting way to use knowledge from both fields. That said, my area of interest is in sport and it's been that way since May 2000. That was when I fell in love with basketball, specifically the NBA. Watching Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals between the Lakers and Blazers was an eye-opening experience and more than 20 years later, moments like Kobe’s alley-oop to Shaq continue to fuel my passion of learning about the magical world of sport. And luckily, my job lets me write, edit and produce about my interests. I've put together packages, rundowns, bulletins, shows and documentaries. I'm skilled in video production and post-production, creative writing, non-linear editing, production planning and being tall.
Istanbul Park may have only had seven Formula One races, but that doesn't mean it's not an iconic track. Talha Duman takes us through how F1 got its start in Turkey, why it left and what it took for the sport to come back.
It's 2019 and eSports isn't an unknown entity anymore. Just three years ago the world final of League of Legends had 43 million viewers. That's more than Game 7 of the NBA Finals with 31 million. Hundreds of thousands of dollars in prize money are at stake, and eSports' popularity is rising. Talha Duman caught up with a team in Istanbul trying to be the first Turkish side to win FIFA 19's biggest honours.
The 35th Bosphorus Cross-Continental swimming race took place on the 20th of August. Thousands braved the harsh, yet picturesque, waters of the metropolis to participate in one of the most exciting competitions in aquatic sports. Talha Duman has more from the shores of the Istanbul Strait.
During a little break from their Euro 2024 qualifiers, Türkiye's national football team played a friendly game with Japan in the last week, in Belgium of all places. For the Turkish diaspora in the city of Genk where the game was held it was a chance to see up close what their friends and family back home take for granted. Talha Duman traveled to Belgium to tell this story.
Gymnastics fans in Antalya knew they were in for a treat in April. Türkiye ended up becoming one of the favourites at the 2023 European Championships to clinch a few medals. And the highlight was Turkish gymnast Adem Asil who made history by claiming two titles. Talha Duman went to Izmir to catch up with the 24-year-old champ, who says his ultimate dream is Olympic glory.
