I am a documentary director who has taken roles in editing, camera, and sound op. After working for a TV documentary production in Tokyo in 2015, I established a small production called ASHI FILMS in 2016. Since then, with a small team, I worked for CNN, VICE, Netflix, Public Broadcasters, and many other documentary projects as well as docu-style corporate/ commercial works for companies like Patagonia. I moved to Missoula in 2023 autumn, and I am ready to take any documentary or docu-style works.
We made a film for a small family-owned brewery in Durant Oklahoma. I directed and edited this piece. I also operated a second camera and sound device.
I field produced, directed, and edited (with another editor) this documentary film for Compass Light Production in the US. I also filmed with a drone, operated a second camera, and operated a sound recording device on location.
I field produced and directed this documentary episode for VICE Media's TV series OPEN SECRETS. It was aired on Canal+ in France. This 30-minute film focuses on Japan's human rights abuse situation known as Hostage Justice. It features wrongfully accused cases due to police and prosecutors forcefully making the victims self-confess. They took them hostage for interrogation for crimes that they didn't commit. The worst outcome is a man who ended up on death row for nearly 50 years.
