I'm an award-winning visual storyteller. I have over a decade of experience documenting stories of vulnerable populations, especially women and refugees from the Middle East and Africa. I am passionate about making sure global game-changers get their stories told. I was a staff photographer with the Associated Press for several years, during which time I documented the 2011 revolutions in Egypt and Libya. I am based in Istanbul, Turkey and work for the NY Times, the Washington Post, Buzzfeed, PepsiCo, the World Bank, UNICEF, the International Rescue Committee, Search for Common Ground, among others. For six years I co-founded and ran an innovative storytelling agency, Vignette. The company created multimedia projects for NGOs and foundations such as UNICEF, Amnesty International, Sesame Street, the Gates Foundation, the World Bank and the International Rescue Committee. In 2016 I received a World Press Photo award for her work in Sierra Leone with the NY Times, and I have received grants from the European Journalism Centre and IWMF to create stories about women's access to abortion worldwide.
We created a year-long project for the PepsiCo CSR department which was to promote their healthier living projects. The video was used internally to create more support for the products. Please contact me for the password.
At a time when Jos, Nigeria, is religiously segregated, a Christian and a Muslim girl discovered a special bond that turned them into champions of reconciliation. This video was shot for Search For Common Ground.
We worked with the IRC and Lena Headey to help bring more attention to the refugee crisis through video and photos.

This was an microsite that my company Vignette Interactive, created for Center for American Progress' report, Fear Inc., about the funding of Islamophobia in the United States. I found all the subjects for the impact videos and coordinated the shooting, and then shot the videos with my business partner Matt Ford.
