About Creede

m an independent journalist from the US reporting on human rights, freedom of expression, armed conflict and social justice. I have reported from the Middle East, Europe, the United States and Latin America. I was born in Texas in 1988 and lived there until I moved to Spain in 2010. I’ve since lived in Hungary, Israel-Palestine, Ecuador, Washington, D.C. and Qatar. My work has appeared in Al Jazeera English & America, The Daily Beast, VICE News, The Intercept and elsewhere. It has been translated into Spanish, French, Serbian, Turkish, Italian and Arabic.

    I witnessed the murder of a taxi driver in the tourist area of Acapulco while on a reporting trip in Mexico. I spoke to local taxi drivers about their relationships with warring cartels and international observers about the US's drug war's impact on real on people in tough situations, such as the taxi drivers. I also researched local law enforcement and politicians' ties to the cartels.

I obtained court documents showing that Rakem Balogun was under surveillance and eventually arrested because of the "Black Identity Extremist" intelligence assessment. I spoke to former FBI agents, civil liberties lawyers and anti-police violence activists.
