I am a freelance video journalist and media trainer, with nearly two decades of experience at the BBC and Agence France-Presse (AFP). I recently stepped down as AFPTV Africa Editor in Chief, where I commissioned, coordinated and directed coverage of breaking news in Sub-Saharan Africa. As editor, I trained and supported AFP's entire network of video journalists across the African continent. This leadership role honed both my managerial and technical skills. Before becoming Africa Editor, I worked as a video correspondent in London, Paris and Johannesburg. Highlights of my career include covering the death of Nelson Mandela and the trial of Oscar Pistorius. As a freelance video journalist and media trainer, I now teach journalists and communications specialists how to film and edit broadcast quality videos to tight deadlines. I also produce videos for Business Insider and Fair Observer.
