An award-winning documentary production company based in London and Barcelona, Fat Rat Films is a team of multi-talented, multi-disciplinary individuals passionate about the power of storytelling. As a company we travel across the world producing both independent cinematic documentaries, and work for clients with whom we cultivate long lasting and impactful relationships. In all of our work we take a story-led, people-centred approach, seeking to contextualise often complex subjects, and to highlight less obvious narratives. We believe that the beauty of documentary is in its power to engender human empathy; to take audiences on emotional journeys through lives, perspectives and realities they might not have considered before. And we harness that power in every inch of our work. In our 10 years as Fat Rat Films we have produced over 200 films, and have been screened on BBC Newsnight, The Guardian, New York Times, Al Jazeera and internationally at festivals, as well as going viral. Alongside film we also work across a range of documentary storytelling formats including radio documentary, VR, animation and digital longform. We let the stories dictate the format, and are always looking for new ways to surprise, entertain and enlighten our audiences.
