Noel Guevara is a conservation photographer and filmmaker based in Manila, Philippines. He is an Emerging League Fellow of the International League of Conservation Photographers (iLCP) and Summit Fellow at the 2022 Jackson Wild Summit. His experience in producing content and creating visual stories spans more than 18 years, starting with the founding of his design firm, Burnwater Design Studios in 1998 to more recently, directing TVCs and online videos. Currently, Noel has diverted much of his efforts to marine conservation, his advocacy for many years. Noel covers the Asia-Pacific region, collaborating with the world's top conservation groups and NGOs such as Greenpeace International, WWF, and The Coral Triangle Initiative. He has been honored in many international competitions such as the Sony World Photography Awards, DEEP Indonesia, and Nature Photography Awards. His work was published online by the BBC, National Geographic, CNN, The Guardian, and in magazines and broadsheets in Spain, Italy, The Netherlands, France, and Singapore. Noel hosts two shows on his YouTube channel: “Hammerhead Gearhead”, a gear review series that airs twice a month, and “Watch Me Work”, a weekly live demo of his photo editing process. He uses both shows as platforms from which he can further talk about his advocacies.

This video was a follow-up to a photodocumentation project that I did for CTI / Primex / ADB / GEF earlier that year. This video was a summation of the PES initiative and how it benefitted the communities. Work for this video was exclusively done in post as most of the footage were already filmed. I personally edited the video and also animated the illustrations done by my design firm.

This video was produced in anticipation of the visit of the “Rainbow Warrior”, the flagship of Greenpeace, to the Philippines. It was filmed in Nasugbu, Anilao, Puerto Princesa, and Manila. I filmed and edited this video.
I flew to Mindoro to cover and document the organization’s projects in the area. Rather than pursuing a conventional approach with voice overs, I chose to let the voices of the children carry the narrative, following a loose script. The client agreed to this point-of-view as it presented the impact of the programs from the perspective of those who benefited from it.
I travelled with Yeb Saño across Palawan to document the beat of the community amidst the plan to build a coal plant in their area’s rich and fragile ecosystem. The project brought the team to Puerto Princesa, El Nido, Aborlan, Narra, and even underwater in Tubbataha. The project was eventually considered a success as the coal plant was cancelled many years later
