About Ingrid

I’m a freelance journalist from the Netherlands, currently based in Oklahoma (US). Previously, I have worked in Paris and London in various roles; shifts in newsrooms, sold my own stories, worked alongside foreign correspondents, had various fixer-roles, and I’ve done research for documentaries and newspapers. I also spent a lot of my time in ‘meta-journalism’ to help news organisations progress in their journalism. My favourite subject is Public Health, but I'm open to working on any type of news.

  • Specialty coffee is taking Paris by storm

    • Reporter / Journalist

In a city often considered the epicentre of culinary excellence, it is surprising that the specialty coffee business only took off a few years ago in Paris. I produced this story for Euronews' luxury vertical living.it.

  • The World's most complex border situation

    • On-Air Reporter / Host

I produced a series of 360 videos for Euronews - This one is about intertwined villages between the Netherlands and Belgium, where the borders are so complex they go through houses, streets, the supermarket, and even straight through the council office.

  • Migrants are sure of it: happiness awaits in London

    • Fixer
    • Field Producer

This story is about the desire of migrants to reach the United Kingdom. It's a success story of a migrant that managed to set up a life and a business in the UK after arriving through Calais.

  • Along the US abortion frontline: overcrowded clinics and despair

    • Fixer

I worked as a fixer for the Dutch public broadcaster NOS to produce a 2-minute TV story on the recent abortion ban in Oklahoma. Our goal was to explain what options Oklahomans who seek abortion have left. In this role, I was responsible for arranging interviews with people close to the women affected by the ban and getting acces to (closed down) abortion clinics to film.

  • This French startup is betting on native social video and is now eyeing expansion to the U.S.

    • Reporter / Journalist

I wrote the story of the upcoming start-up Brut — think a French version of NowThis — for Niemanlab. It has had success reaching a younger demographic through social media.
