About
I am Brazilian and hold both Brazilian and Italian nationalities. I have been based in Rio de Janeiro since 2009. Between 2003 and 2008 I lived, studied and worked as a freelance photographer in London (UK). In 2015 I launched a production company called Zuppa Filmes (/http://zuppafilmes.com.br/english/). Zuppa Filmes produces several audiovisual products for the film and music industries. We do still photography and making of photography for cinematographic productions, DOP for documentaries, institutional videos for a wide range of clients, from private companies, NGOs, among others, as well as photography in general, such as portraits, album covers and recordings of shows and exhibitions. I've been involved in video production for many years, especially since the arrival of video-enabled DSLR cameras. Zuppa Filmes was designed to offer a more structured service, consisting of multi-camera coverage, with careful audio recording and integrated editing.

Fuel of Life - The Woman Babassu Coconut Breakers
In Medio Mearim, one of the poorest areas of Brazil, a group of women are fighting for their rights. They rely on the coconuts of a local palm tree called Babassu to make their living. There are an estimative of more than 300.000 women coconut breakers in Brazil and since the late 70's powerful land owners have been fighting to restrict the women's traditional access to the Babassu trees located on their properties, even hiring gunmen to keep the women away from their lands. This fight resulted in deaths of people in both sides. But the women didn't give up, they fight against the opressor building an association called AMTR - The Association of the Rural Women Workers, and now they also have a local law to protect them to go inside private properties to take the babassu. I spent one month living with these women, registering their reality and this work has been published at the NGO Action Aid's magazine

The Yuba Community
Brazil has the biggest Japanese Community outside Japan. The migrants’ saga started 100 years ago when the first ship, called Kasato Maru, left Kobe in Japan, to Brazil in search of better living conditions. Many of them became labourers on coffee farms. At the time, Brazil was experiencing a shortage of farm workers and turned to impoverished European immigrants and later to an influx of Japanese workers to quash this demand. Many communities have been built. Inspired in Rousseau, Marx and in the Bible one particular Japanese community was created in Sao Paulo, in a place located 600 km away from the capital. The Yuba Community is a farm founded in 1935 by a migrant called Isamu Yuba, who left Kobe, Japan, in the 1920s. The farm is sustained by three principles: to live off the land, maintain a daily reverence, and engage in artistic practice (music, dance and theatre). Thi hidden Germany inside Brazil
Attracted by the temperate climate and typically European vegetation, a group of Germans put down roots in the North of Santa Catarina, a Southern State of Brazil, and founded Pomerode. The city was first created as a settlement by German immigrants in 1861 and even today, there are still people who can barely speak the native Portuguese despite fourth generations of living in Brazil. The mountainous landscapes, timber framed houses, traditionally European-looking clothes and light skinned people makes you think you are in Germany. In this little town of some 25 thousand inhabitants, the customs, and above all, the language of Germany form a daily part of these Brazilian’s lives. This project was published at D la Repubblica delle Donne magazine, in Italy
