Sadiq works in Singapore as a cinematographer, editor and graphic artist. His writing has been published internationally in Eastlit Journal, Afterglobe, Ceriph, Visual Verse and more. Sadiq began his creative career as a photographer shooting events on film before moving into filmmaking. He has since worked on a range of digital factual video and film projects for international media and brands. Since 2016, Sadiq has been a core member of the Far Features crew and filmed, edited and contributed on many award-winning creative projects. His short documentary film Konyak was an honorable mention in 2020 Asia South-East Short Festival. In 2018, he was appointed Regional Video Editor/Videographer at Sephora Southeast Asia, where he created video series and international campaigns. Today, Sadiq is pursuing his creative path as an indie filmmaker, travelling to remote regions of the world looking for untold stories and social issues to document. He is currently editing his first feature film A Life Electric with Far Features/Storm Features Ltd.
The Konyak story is a familiar one of worlds colliding. Where tribes and ancient rituals meet the modern world and generations pull away from remote roots to enter the human centres of civilisation, enticed by money and new religions.
This short documentary film, produced by Eco-Business, features the story of how villagers living in the rural, remote villages of China's Yunnan province received the gift of sight, thanks to a CSR initiative by Singapore firm Keppel Land and NGO Bless China International.
