Danish Raza is a journalist based in New Delhi. He writes on current affairs, social justice and the intersection of society and tech. His articles have appeared in The Atlantic, The Guardian, Vice, Article 14, Star Tribune and Arab News. He was most recently South Asia Editor at VICE, where he worked closely with the Asia Pacific leadership to develop overarching content strategy, workflow and process. He also managed a team of editors and reporters across the region, guiding them on story ideas and coverage plans. Raza has traveled India extensively, reporting on a variety of news, from elections to insurgency in central India, from curbs on freedom of expression to life in No Man's land on India-Bangladesh border, from the rise of right-wing nationalism to protests against the new citizenship law. In 2019, Raza was in the US working at the Minneapolis Star Tribune and Sahan Journal as an Alfred Friendly fellow. He won the UNFPA Laadli Media Award for Gender Sensitivity 2014, and was runner-up for the Lorenzo Natali Media Prize, 2015 for an investigative feature on bride trafficking that appeared in the Hindustan Times. Raza was part of the Thomson Reuters Foundation’s first cohort of global journalists to attend Reporting Slavery & Trafficking course in London, 2015. He has a Post Graduate Diploma in Convergent Journalism from A.J.K. Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Delhi University. Raza spends his free time reading biographies and exploring the alleys of Walled City, Delhi.
